Protecting the heart, expanding the horizon through rhyming, social-emotional learning (SEL) children's books.
At Heart and Horizon Publishing, we believe that the seeds of emotional health are sown in the simple, rhythmic moments of childhood. Our mission is to provide families and educators with a gentle language for connection through wholesome children's picture books written in verse. By intentionally weaving social-emotional learning (SEL), behavioral growth, and environmental awareness into our stories, we aim to protect the heart of the young child while expanding their horizon. We believe that when children learn to navigate their emotions healthily and clearly today, they grow into the resilient, heart-centered adults of tomorrow.
Kira Dawn Martin is a proud wife, mother of two, and the founder of Heart & Horizon Publishing. Writing from a young age, Kira intentionally crafts wholesome, rhyming picture books designed to help children develop a strong foundation in emotional health, behavioral growth, and environmental awareness. She believes that equipping children with these tools early empowers them to navigate challenges and build lifelong resilience.
Kira’s ultimate hope is to help families move from reacting to problems to proactively fostering well-being. She is writing for a future where every child is equipped to understand their emotions, build healthy coping mechanisms, and confidently seek support when needed.
